Prototype: Especially on steep track a powerful loco is necessary to pull long trains with high speed. With opening of Vereina-tunnel and new car-trains the number of existing locos was no more sufficient. RhB ordered 1989 six locos with three-phase current engines. 3.260 HP - this is the most powerful loco on narrow-gauge-track of Rhaetian railway. Already 1991 three further locos were ordered. These vehicles were set in motion in 1993 an 1994. 1996 another order of three locos was placed, which were delivered two years later. Nearly the same locos could be found on the track of BAM - Bière-Apples-Morges and the MOB - Montreux-Oberland Bernois.
Kato's Glacier Express, scale 1:150
Models are made from plastics in scale 1:150. Minimumradius recommended 195 mm. Kato-couplers, not for use with Micro-Trains-Line-couplers for Nn3. Kato-motor with flywheel, all axles powered, high speed, pantographs from plastic without function, headlight changing with direction. 12 volts DC only. We offer some sets with are ready-to-run on 6,5 mm track, and some replacementparts. (Subject to availability and change of prices by Kato. Road-number as available.)

Prototype: These new railcars are multi-talented: for use as single train (e.g. regio-trains) or for use as a loco (e.g. Bernina Express, freight- and express-trains). The technical equipment gives the possibilities to run the railcar on the DC-track of Bernina as well as on the AC-track of the rest of the trackwork of Rhaetian railway. So you may find this nice railcar all over the RhB-track with different trains.

Prototype: The MOB - Montreux-Berner Oberland-railway ordered a series of locos together with raetian railway. Because of different current-systems both types differ, especially on the roof-top. These four locos are often in service for the well-known panoramic-trains from Lake Geneva to Bernese Oberland.
