Prototype: Until 1970 RhB uses two-axled covered boxcars only. With their central door, loading was quite difficult.
In 1970 RhB startet with its first four-axled sliding-door-wagons. They could be loaded by machines, which was much quicker and efficient than before. The demand for these vehicles rose from year to year. Totally 56 items were set in motion during a period of 22 years. The mesures outside were still the same, but they raised their capacity up to 30,0t.
The wagons have aluminium-doors and are very popular, expecially for the advertising clients. Many wagons still run with colourfull advertising, though some of them have got back their originally aluminium-look.
You will find them all over the RhB-track.

Prototype: In the nineteen-seventies two-axled covered freight wagons of RhB do not satisfy requirements. Small doors and little capacity were no more up to date.
In 1980 an order for better vehicles was done. The new wagons had a central door and are used for cargo domicile-trafic and for baggage-transports between Chur and the Engadine.
The Gak-v 5401 - 5420 were set in motion in 1979/80. The capacity is at 26,0t. The wagon has aluminium-doors with a RhB-sign on it. You will find them all over the RhB-track.

Prototype: Since the beginning in 1889, RhB used two-axled covered freight wagons, which do satisfy until the years 2000. Meanwhile, most of them have been abandoned or renumbered to MOW. You will find them all over the RhB-track.

Prototype: These open wagons have come into use in 1913 first. Stakes and boards from aluminium were added in the 1970ies. Prototype is often seen in freight-trains and for multiple purpose.

Prototype: When RhB decided to build the Vereina-tunnel, another decision has to be made: which kind of transportation for the dump should be chosen? The tunnel-project would last only some years, so a vehicle has to be found, which could be used later on too. One choose a typical flat car with special fixtures for containers.
The cars Rp-w 8351 - 8360 were set in motion during 1993. Since 1997 the fixtures were replaced by stakes.
More than 100 container-cars do run on the RhB-track currently. You will find them all over, sometimes as a part of a passenger-train, sometimes as part of a standard freight train.

Prototype: The former open wagons with aluminium boarding have lost their work during the 1980ies. More and more containers have been sended. So RhB added some metal-bars on the wooden planks to carry containers on them. First, the aluminium boarding was kept, but clapped aside. Later on, one has disassembled the boarding, because the wagon-number was not to be seen clearly.

Prototype: To be able, to get new clients for the transport of merchandises, you need a fleet of modern wagons for container-transport. A great number of two-axled cars have been transformed by RhB-shops in Landquart to these attractive new-looking wagons. The colourfull containers a often to bee seen with special freight-trains, but even at the end of a passenger-train.

Prototype: Wood is one of the most important freights of railways. RhB is going to transport about 100.000 tons a year. Stake-wagons could be loaded easily: only a truck with a derrick is necessary in a station. But they are in use for many other types of great volume freight, which need not to be covered from weather.

Prototype: Stakecar type Kkp, formerly named as M-wagon, came into service in 1913. In the 1980ies stakes were added to the chassis. Though RhB has a lot of four-axled stakecars, these tiny wagons are daily in use and can been seen in freight-trains often.

Prototye: The gravel-wagons are in use since several years. The rolling-stock is in good condition, though the painting has weathered during the last years very strong. When the wagon got the new numbering in 2000, they got little paint-revision with a brush which shows the original colour again.
